Pass The Champagne, Please!

Let's be real: I am that friend who can be completely an utterly composed when necessary but you betcha bottom dollar that as soon as we hit the car and that bass is bumpin', I'm gonna bust out my flow as smooth as butter. I had two "cold days" this Thursday and Friday so this gal pal has been cooped up in our little love nest for days with nothing but me, my kitty Linus, and our two dogs Lucy + Cannoli. I tried entertaining myself by having rap battles with myself all while my boy Biggie was on repeat non stop but my furry friends were not amused. They looked at me like #byefelicia. What can I say, haters gonna hate.

With that said, this is what I am looking forward to this weekend:

[1.] Yoga
[2.] Bottomless Bloody Mary's
[3.] Dateline Marathon [it's a guilty pleasure o' mine!]
[4.] Wearing comfy socks
[5.] Snuggle Fests

What about y'all? Cheers to the weekend, chickadees!

Art I Heart: Katie Smail

Isn't art just the best thing to dazzle over when you need a little pick-me-up? With the winter weather lingering well past my liking, I find Katie Smail's work to be refreshing! You may recognize her snazzy work from Design Love Fest's Dress Your Tech Series and it just so happens that Katie's feature is one of absolute favorites of them all! Holy swoon, sisters! I must admit that her work has my nose pointed straight to spring! Onward and upward, dearest chickadees!

[Juju Headdress]: Golly Neds, isn't this divine? What I wouldn't give to plop on of  these fine beauties on my wall. I'm sure my honeybee would say otherwise but I just cannot stop thinking about how it would add the perfect touch to our living room. You can find me day dreaming at my desk about it until then. That pink is just too perfect!

[Pillow Cover]: If you are a black and white lover, this pillow is for you! I love the abstract art on this pillow that would seriously add a little punch to any space! Everyone needs to add a little artsy fartsy to spice up their space a bit!

[Snail Paperweight]:  My honeybee surprised me with this little paperweight and it made my day! It totally feeds into my love for snail mail and all things Kate Spade. You would think that Kate Spade would carry this lovely curio, but [shockingly] he snatched it up elsewhere! Oh, and the price? You can't beat it, love bugs!

[Leather Tote Crossbody]: I saw this leather tote over the weekend and couldn't get over how perfect the color was! If you are on the hunt for the perfect orange bag, look no further! The quality and feel of this bag was reasonable for the price. Who wouldn't feel snazzy with this jam on their shoulder?

[Stripe Boatneck Tee]: We all know that I wear stripes on 6 [maybe 7] out of 7 days in a week. So do I really need a new one? Probably not. In my defense, this lovely blue screams "Spring" so it's totally on my radar!

[Linoleum Print]: I am sure that you are getting sick of me talking about how I am putting together my gallery wall in our office, chickadees, but I must tell you that this is the latest print to land at our little love nest.  The problem with my gallery wall is that I am gradually collecting different pieces that I am smitten with but have yet to hang them up. I have what some lovely people would like to call a "commitment problem."  Yes, yes, y'all it's true. I do. Not just with the prints- with the clock that we have had since our wedding but I cannot commit on where to hang it in our living room along with a dozen other little bibelots I have around this lovely establishment. I just cannot deal with it being so permanent because knowing this little gal, I will change my mind the moment I smash a nail in the wall. What can I say ? It's time for an intervention! Call 'em in!

[Water Bottle]: I have used my BKR bottle every single day for the past three years and cannot sing it's praises any higher. It has totally helped increase the amount of water that I drink on the daily and the colors are as cute as a button. Over the weekend, I made the mistake of leaving my BKR bottle in my car and it broke from the cold temperatures. I'm so bummed. It sounds silly but I really am. I can't go another day without ordering a new one so I am thinking this lovely green color might be the next contender.

[Ballet Flats]: Colorful flats are my jam! I was especially school girl giddy when I popped onto the world wide web this week and spotted these flats in such a lovely color! A gals gotta have her options and when happy hued flats are involved, the possibilities are endless!

[Business Card Holder]: Does Kate Spade really think of everything? This business card holder is seriously on my birthday list! Less than a week and I am hoping that this lovely number makes it's way to my doorstop because I cannot get over how perfectly cheeky it is! The details are everything, chickadees!

If you think Katie's work is just as swoon worthy as I do, gal pals, you may want to hop on over to One King's Lane to take a looky-look at what she is selling! This one just happens to make me all weak in the knees! Which one is your favorite?

Truth Bomb: Be Fearlessly Authentic

"Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy."

In today's world with social media constantly buzzing on our phones, iPads, and computers, it can hard to get away from it all. We are constantly surrounded by other peoples thoughts, ideas, and actions that, at times, it can be difficult to separate our own true thoughts from others.  Since entering my own nook of the social media world, I have often strived to be authentic. We often seek out what we see in ourselves and in doing so, things can become a little "fuzzy" if you will. Maybe it is just me, chickadees, but if we are being honest, I struggle with this. I often ask myself how I can separate myself from others while still staying true to who I am as a person. As I am getting ready to begin my 200 yoga teacher training, I started to get a jump start on my readings and picked up "When Things Fall Apart" by Pema Chodron. Listen dear pals, I cannot recommend it enough. I find myself highlighting line after line and going back to read them again and again. This is a book that really has pulled the strings of my heart.  As I am on my own personal journey to be fearlessly authentic, I thought  I would share a few things that I have learned so far:

1. Be Honest With Yourself Being honest with ourselves is not always the easiest thing to do. We often feel uncomfortable when we come face to face with our imperfections and so many times we run away from it all. However it is in the moments of discomfort where we experience self reflection, acceptance, and growth. When you want to run away, don't. Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth. Being honest with ourselves means that we must not overthink things but rather trust our instincts and feelings. If something feels good, seek it out. If it not longer serves you like it once did, be okay with walking away from it and move on. Being honest with yourself means that you think for yourself. Trust your thoughts. You are the one who is walking your journey, not anyone else.

2. Let Go Of Your Own Expectations For so long I had this picture of how my life was supposed to be and whenever my life started to veer a different way, I panicked. I didn't want to admit it at the time, but I thought I had failed. I had lost touch with my own reality by constantly living in this bubble, becoming attached to things that never even existed. In doing so, I didn't appreciate the lessons my life was teaching me at that moment. Once I learned to let go of my own expectations and false realities, I started to live in the moment.  It sounds so simple yet so difficult at the same time. Letting go of our own expectations by becoming honest with ourselves allows us to evolve our entire self. It's such a freeing feeling. I say it over and over again but embrace the current season of your life. Accept where you are because eventually you will learn that it is exactly where you were supposed to be. A line that has really stuck with me in Chodron's book is that nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.

3. Let Yourself Be Vulnerable: The beautiful thing about life is that we are always learning and always changing because of the experiences we collect and people we met on our way. Who we are today is not who we will be tomorrow.  Finding the courage to be who we are by letting our guard down allows us to find understanding in others and ultimately with ourselves. When we let our guard down and things start to feel shaky, we can either shut down or embrace it. I have typically learned when we feel uncomfortable, we gravitate towards something tangible. If you walk into a room where you know no one, maybe you grab your phone and check social media rather than just embracing the moment and accepting that you feel uncomfortable. Allow yourself to feel vulnerable and accept those feelings as they come. As we become vulnerable, we awaken our souls and become open to what and how we are feeling.

4. Accept Your Thoughts Accept your thoughts and know that they may or may not be the same thoughts that someone else may have. For so long, I felt like I couldn't have the same opinions or like the same things that others did because I didn't want these people to think that I was doing it simply because they were. So dumb, right? It's okay to like the same things as other people and it doesn't make you less of a person. Not accepting your own thoughts is denying who you are as a person. Be confident in who you are and your life will fall into place. Wherever you direct your focus, your energy with follow. When you allow yourself to accept your own thoughts, you will become those thoughts.

The authenticity of our lives is such a wonderful thing, chickadees.
Embrace it.
You are beautiful.
You are deserving.
You are worthy.
You are fearlessly authentic.

Holy Swoon!

Oh hey there, chickadees! It's Monday! That means you need to put your most sassy shoes on, sip on that coffee, and show the world that you are one Boss Bitch! These pretty eyes of mine are droopin' after staying up way past my bedtime to watch my gal 'Yonce perform at last nights Grammy's! Maybe this list of pretty goodness will wake you up! By the way, how perfect and adorable is Iris Apfel for Kate Spade's new collection? I just love her to pieces!

Enjoy, you lovely people!  Now get out there and show Monday whatcha got!

Oh, Snap!

[Finding Beauty in Imperfections]:  One of my most biggest challenges in my life is focusing less on being "perfect" and more about "just being". It always has. I thrive on being a perfectionist yet it can drive me completely insane to the point where I am in tears. Within the past year, I have really tried to focus on "just being".  That has meant less photo taking, less talking, and really just soaking in experiences around me. The clarity and sense of acceptance that I have gained has been so insightful.  I am not sure where my world will take me within the next year, but I know that I will keep this thought near and dear to my big 'ol heart!

[Travel Colorfully]: Just yesterday, I got around to unpacking some things that I had stashed in a weekend bag to visit my pops!  I never know what types of crazy things we will find ourselves into whenever we head to up to see him. One thing I do know, is to travel colorfully! It was my pops birthday so we had a grand 'ol time celebrating over Italian Rum Cake [yum!], chinese take out, and The Godfather [his favorite!].  It was a much needed and appreciated trip!  On a completely different note, I really love these kicks that I purchased over the summer [They are actually on sale now if they tickle your fancy!]. Believe it or not, these are the only pair of athletic shoes that I own. Yikes!

[Lucy Goosey]: I can hardly believe it but our little love bug, Lucy, is seven years old! It makes me smile just thinking about how long we have had her! My honeybee and I rescued her when we were in college and she stole our hearts from the moment we spotted her! She is completely and utterly camera shy so you can imagine my excitement when I was able to snap this precious picture! Just a couple of months ago this bean escaped while we were at work and somehow managed to climb on our granite countertops, steal a gigantic cantaloupe, roll it down into our newly finished basement, smash it to pieces, and then eat it. Yes, you read that right. She ate it. Rind. And. All. I hope she enjoyed that delectable cantaloupe because she sure did pay for it. Lucy Goosey is now locked up while my Honeybee and I are at work. Boom!

[Art I Heart]: Small projects to finish our little love nest has been on my to-do lists these days. The next project up for grabs is the gallery way in our office. I recently ordered this print  and could not love it any more! Swoon! Nothing like happy hues to inspire wonderful minds, chickadees!

[The Perfect Trench Cape]: Listen ladies, if there is one piece out there right now that you NEED, it is this piece! Isn't it fabulous? I cannot tell y'all how much I am smitten with this trench cape. I am in this rut where I am over winter sweaters, layer weather, and big bulky coats. My mind is ready for spring, button ups, and striped t-shirts WITHOUT having to layer. Going into spring, I am continuing to be mindful about purchasing more timeless pieces rather than trendy. I read once that, "Trendy is the last stage before tacky." Don't get me wrong, this little lady loves a few trendy pieces here and there but I'm all about smart shopping these days!

[Let the Journey Begin!]: I cannot contain my excitement any longer! I am so excited to share with you gal pals, that I am officially signed up to start my 200 hour yoga teacher training! I squeal then jump up and down just thinking about it! Yoga has become such a big part of my life within the past two years and I am so scared to take the plunge but I feel that I am right where I need to be. Yes, the physical poses are my jam but there is so much more to it that I am looking forward to! I am so anxious to start my journey and grow as a person both on and off my mat. Send good vibes my way! Namaste, babes!

That's what has been happening in this wonderful world o'mine! What about you? Have you done anything wonderful lately?

My "It" List

We all have those things that make our heart skip a beat and we just cannot live without. I thought about it this past Saturday as I was quickly packing for an out of town trip.  I only had a few minutes to get in the door and throw some things in a bag before it was time to hit the trials again. Luckily my honeybee was willing to help me.  When he asked me what I wanted him to grab, I simply said, "The usuals, my dear!".

I think guys and gals can take a peek at my Instagram and instantly pick out what some of my personal favorites ares: colored flats, navy stripes, snail mail, and yoga.  Unless you chit chat with me on the daily, you probably do not know that I am a lover of hip hop music, too! I have tried to stray away from it, chickadees, but I can't stop, won't stop. You can usually find me bustin' out a few flows from the tip of my tongue with the bass up and my music loud. It is quite the sight, lemme tell y'all! As my gal Beyonce says, "I sneezed on the beat and the beat got sickah!"

Navy Stripes

So tell me chickadees, what is on your "it" list? Do share!

Queen Bee

Let's be honest: This little gal could care less of about tonight's Super Bowl shenanigans. Every once in a blue moon, I may or may not switch the tube to catch the halftime show but good 'ol Katy Perry makes me yawn so that is an automatic no-go for me this year, chickadees! In honor of the Queen Bee performing the best Superbowl half time performance of all time in 2013 [I'm sorry, Ms. Jackson],  I decided to give her a little love on the bloggity blog today.

A couple of days ago,  someone asked me who I would want to grab lunch with, and I didn't even hesitate to say Miss Bey herself! Not only is she sassy and utterly breathtaking, she has completely helped empower women of all ages and races since taking over the world [Can I get, an "Amen!"?]. I stumbled upon this quote of hers earlier in the week and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! The yogi in me is all about spreading good vibes and kindness to others so this one really hit the spot!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, you lovely people! If you are watching the game tonight, I hope you partake in good food with a cocktail [or two!] in hand!
