Shop Spotlight: Evelyn Henson

Oh hey, chickadees! If there is one thing that I cannot get enough of, it's art! Today I am sharing with you a recent up and coming artist that has completely won the hearts of so many gal pals all over the world wide web these days! It seems as if no matter where I look, her artwork has popped up everywhere, and for good reason, too!  It's bright, cheerful, and oh so very whimsy!  I think it's safe to say that Evelyn Henson + her artwork have me completely smitten, that's for sure! I was tickled pink when I had a chance to have a lil chit-chat with the Evelyn Henson herself! You won't want to miss what she had to say about the lovely shop of hers:

Describe your brand in 5 words or less.

Optimistic, celebratory, bright, & joyful.

Why did you decide to open a shop?

I had just graduated from college and hadn't immediately found a job, so I just thought if I don't do this now, then when? I had a stack of paintings and drawings that I listed on Etsy, and it all slowly grew from there.

What or who inspires you?

The colors and patterns we see in everyday. Sometimes it's a painting I see (I especially  love abstract art), a pretty interior, or a cute dress. It's hard to pinpoint specific examples...but usually I'm most struck by a new color scheme.

What's one thing that no one knows about your shop?

I launched it from my parent's house! My first studio was in a spare room they had.

What's a typical day for you like?

FUN! Every day is different. Usually, I get emails and boring business-y things out of the way in the morning with a cup of coffee, and focus on creative projects and painting in the afternoon (currently with the new Taylor Swift album on repeat).

What have you learned about yourself since starting your business?

Hmmm probably how much meaning art gives to my life.

What is your favorite product in your shop?

The map prints. They're so fun to mix and match!

Who would you love to buy a piece of your art?

Oooohh someone famous! Mindy Kaling. Or Taylor Swift. It's exciting when anyone invests in my work, though!

In case you can't get enough this little sweet thang, she even dished some of her personal favorites, too!

How completely and utterly adorable is Evelyn? I don't know about you chickadees, but  I cannot help but feel all warm + fuzzy inside when I catch a glimpse of her work! She sure does spread [a lot!] of sunshine this time of year! There are a number of pretties from her shop that are on my holiday must-list that I cannot wait to get my hands on! Oprah, take note because little lady will be making your list next year, too! Be sure to check out her snazzy products on her website and follow her on Instagram! The sneak peeks on a daily basis always tickle my fancy!

Let's Stay Home

When the weather starts to get cold, this little lady instantly turns into a homebody. You know, the type of gal who swaps out her fancy clothes for the super warm and comfy ones the moment she steps into the door? Totally me! No shame here!  We have yet to get a full on forecast of snow but that isn't going to stop me from staying in on a Friday night. I find pure and utter bliss by staying home on a Friday night to relax and put my toesies up! With  a coffee in hand and darling snail mail to fill out, what is not to love? This weekend was the first weekend that my honeybee and I were able to have a hot date night in a long time, gal pals. We zipped off to our favorite restaurant and then zoomed back home to have a fire and enjoy our little love nest with our furry friends!
It was the bee's knees I tell you!

How was your weekend, chickadees? Hope you had something snazzy planned! Now get out there and show Monday whatcha got!

Holy Swoon!

Happy Monday, chickadees! Hope y'all had a snazzy weekend!  Take a look at what made me squeal, "Holy Swoon!" while perusing the web this weekend:

[Mini Heart Letterpress Notebook]: This little notebook is nothing short of adorable.  I seem to fill up my notebooks rather quickly these days from all of the language samples I take of my little ones during the day. They love to keep me on my toesies! This would be the cutest notebook to tuck every so perfectly in my therapy bag or hospital scrubs!

[Mani and Simon Taxi]: I am always on the hunt for baby clothes and gifts that make my heart skip a beat! This snazzy little taxi will make its way to my online shopping cart someday soon. I have way too many gal pals who are mama's to be! So if you are having a lil baby boy soon, don't be surprised if this one zooms your way! Beep! Beep!

[Crosley Cruiser Turntable]: Whenever I go visit my pops, I can almost guarantee that he has purchased a new album. What can I say, the guy loves his music! I fell in love with this adorable turn-table that I spotted over the weekend.  It comes in a number of colors but you know this little lady loves her chartreuse! I could just picture us boppin' and singin' along to some of his favorite tunes with this beauty! Holy swoon indeed!

[Vanessa Crystal Bow Pointy Toe Flat]: Shoe fairy, if you exist, please leave these ever so perfect bow flats under my pillow tonight! I am totally smitten with these shoes.  They would add the perfect amount of jazz to any outfit. I was never one to wear a Tory Burch shoe [sorry Tory lovers, but Kate Spade has my heart]. However, this perfect pair may have just won me over. Size five, please!

[Dachshund Portrait Print]: When I spotted this print over the weekend, I giggled out loud. How adorable is this print, seriously?  I only wish they had one for our little Lucy Goosey.  For all of you weiner-dog lovers out there, this print is an absolute must! With a price like that, how could one resist?

[Chateua Parka]: Can we stop and chit-chat about how perfect this winter coat is? Seriously. After last years winter, I was not going to mess around with Mother Nature. I have [shamefully] already purchased two winter coats this year or else I would invest in this one. This coat is actually a combination of three of J.Crew's most best-selling coats. What's not to love? The fur even detaches. When you wear a fabulous coat in the winter, who even cares about what you are wearing underneath. Am I right? A gal has got to have her options for those dreary + snowy days. This coat is totally perfect if you ask me, chickadees!

[Polka Dot Skirt]: My polka dot skirt that I purchased from J.Crew a number of years ago is still a personal favorite in my closet, gal pals. It is one of those items that I continuously grab for when I am in a rut in the morning and don't know what to wear. You know what I am talking about, the one item of clothing that will never let you down. This one totally reminded me of my J.Crew skirt so of course I had to share it with all of you lovely people. I can't speak for the quality but I can speak for its utter adorableness!

Hope this lovely loot brought a smile to your face! Now get out there and show Monday what'cha got!

Let's Take Five

[One]:  I have to be honest, chickadees, other than the daily grind of my job, Project Little Love Nest has been on my brain.  Thank the heavens there was not much elbow grease needed to get this place into tip-top shape other than a little slab of paint on these walls of ours. Have I mentioned to you how tedious this rug situation of ours has been? I just cannot seem to find the perfect match for our space. We had ordered this lovely rug from Pottery Barn but it just didn't quite win my heart. I have this vision of layering two rugs underneath our coffee table but I just can't seem to get it together. I have been swooning all day err'day over this one but my honeybee had to draw the line somewhere.  If you have any suggestions, send them my way. Until then, you can find this little lady perusing Pinterest for design details like bookshelf styling. It's all in the details, don't cha know?

[Two]: I have had the travel bug itch lately, gal pals. We haven't had a chance to explore since we ventured off to Chicago and I must admit, I am getting a little antsy. When I am not jammin' to my gal B [ahem: that's Beyonce if you are out of the loop] on my trips around town, I am usually day dreaming about where else I would be. In a perfect world, I would have loved to become a traveling speech therapist and move every three months around the good ol' USA but my honeybee would miss me too much. How fabulous would it be to just pack and up start life over in a new environment and just explore life? Sure it has it's positives and negatives, you lovely people, but I can only imagine how much self growth you would do. I guess I can keep on dreamin'!

[Three]: My love for all things J.Crew is certainly no secret around these neck of the woods. From it's adorable flats to it's cheeky hues of happiness, I am totally smitten. Of course I may be a little biased but how can you resist?  Well, chickadees, hold your seats because I had the absolute best day last week and I can't help but share it with y'all.  Let's rewind, shall we? Just last week I was helping a lovely client at my local J.Crew. Everything was going fine and dandy until she whipped out her Blackberry as I was checking her out. She looks up at me and says that she is calling Mickey. What the what? THE Mickey Drexler?  You betcha! She told him my name and how she loved my service and that I was lovely. Then for a hot second I heard that lovely voice of his and I just turn googley eyed like a little school girl. Of course I let my giddiness get in the way and said something completely and utterly ridiculous now that I look back on it, but I just could not help myself. If y'all know anything about this little lady over here, you know that this was the best possible thing that could every happen to me. One of the best days in my books! Heavens to Betsy it was just lovely!

[Four]: I am really making a better effort to live life with more of an intention these days and to live in the moment. You know, pick up my phone a little less and appreciate the company of those lovely people around me. It sounds a little deep, ladies and gents, but it's the truth. I came across this quote last week and have marinated on it during my daily yoga practices.  Sure, life is all about personal growth and moving ourselves forward personally and professionally, but doesn't it feel swell to spread a little love onto others? I intend to keep this quote on a post it note in my planner as a reminder to myself as we venture our way into the busy holiday season. What about y'all? Has there been a truth bomb that has been on your big and beautiful heart these days?

[Five]: Isn't Oprah just so wonderful? I find her to be one of the most inspiring women of our time and I only wish that I could have her on my speed dial to chat it up about life. She is so wise and kind.  When she ended her show, I recorded the finale and watched it six times. Don't even worry that I cried every sing time. No shame! She is the bee's knees! Every year I look forward to her list of Favorite Things. Her list of Favorite Things for 2014 was just released this week. Did you happen to check it out? Of course my favorite pens from Kate Spade made the list! Yippy Skippy!

Happy Friday, chickadees! Do you have something snazzy planned for this weekend?
See you back here on Monday!

Style Me Smitten

It's that time of the year where the weather changes from one hot second to the next. One minute I'm wearing a light jacket and the next I am snuggling up in parkas + mittens. What can I say, chickadees- 'tis the season!  I always forget how much rain we get in the fall around here in this little world of mine! This past week I have been found jumpin' around in puddles with my new rain booties.  Take a look at what this little one has been wearing on the regular these days!
