It's Friday, y'all! You've worked hard all week so now it's time to kick those feet up and enjoy a nice cold adult beverage! Most nights when I am craving a good margarita, we make a fabulous recipe for Beer Margarita's that my gal pal from graduate school gave me. Sounds terrible, but it is beyond delicious. My honeybee and I have been on a Grapefruit Margarita binge lately. We came across this recipe in one of my favorite cookbooks from Barefoot Contessa [she's my personal favorite!] and instantly fell in love! If you are a lover of strong margaritas, look no further because this one is hands down a winner!
What You'll Need:
- 1/2 Cup of Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice [About 4 Limes]
- 1 Cup of Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice [About 2 Fresh Grapefruits]
- 1 Cup of Orange Liqueur, such as Triple Sec
- 1 Lime [For Garnish]
- 2 Cups of Ice
- Salt [Optional]
Steps To Make This Delicious Drink:
This drink is super easy to put together and doesn't take very long. We choose to juice our own grapefruit and lime juice. I highly suggest squeezing your own juices rather than purchasing them for flavor purposes.
In a blender, combine the lime juice, grapefruit juice, orange liqueur, and ice in a blender. Puree until smooth. Once pureed, pour mixture into a pitcher and slowly stir in the tequila. Pour drink in salted glasses or add 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the pitcher.
Drink up, buttercups and enjoy!
There are some nights where my honeybee and I don't have it in us to finish an entire pitcher [Our college selves would be highly disappointed!]. When that happens, we will freeze them in our popsicle molds or simple freeze the extras and pull them out when we are craving adult smoothies after work during the week.
Let me know if you try this one out! It's so good and is always a hit when we have friends over for drinks on the porch! Happy weekend, chickadees!
