Happy birthday, America! I hope ya'll have cookouts, pool time, and roasted marshmallows in your plans for today! Nothing says Fourth of July like quality time in the sunshine! I don't know about your neck of the woods, but where we live, the block parties start on Wednesday and do not stop until Sunday evening. Either our street really enjoys the Fourth of July or they really like to party!
My honeybee and I were able to watch the city fireworks from our house last night. Our puppy friends weren't pleased but they sure were pretty! We usually go downtown for the city's annual Red, White, and Boom festivities, but we decided to stay at home this year. While I did miss sippin' on freshly squeezed lemonade during the fireworks, my sanity thanked me. Big crowds give me anxiety! It must be the introvert in me. Yikes!
Today we are heading home for the weekend to visit my papa bear and sister. I stuffed my bag with leftover sparklers from our wedding and I cannot wait to get my hands on those little things! Hopefully they still work or else my inner five year old self will be crushed to pieces. I cannot wait to light them up and twirl around in my skirt like old times! For some reason, the Fourth of July always brings out the kid in me! Bocce ball, cocktails, and a new glossy will also be on my list of must-dos this weekend! Max will probably head out to golf while I will try to convince my sister to get her sneakers on and hit a few tennis balls with me. What can I say? The possibilities are endless when my honeybee has a three day weekend!
